After spending some time exploring the world of coding, I realized that I can actually code and feel excited whenever I do so. I’ve grown to love discussing coding and related topics with others. Initially, I was hesitant to declare a major in this field, fearing I might not be good enough. However, the more I learn, the more everything makes sense, and I’ve also gained valuable insights from others. I’m especially grateful to a friend, whose love for coding inspired me to discover its beauty and who believed in my potential and ability to achieve what I want. Participating in my second hackathon, our team won first prize.
I applied for the Silicon Valley Internship Program and was selected as a software engineer for Studio Corsair. During this internship, I learned zsh, terminal commands, and bash scripting from my advisor, together with learning about web services and APIs. Within the school year, my friends and I also established the Vietnamese Students Association at Lehigh University. Additionally, I was accepted to serve on the university student senate and became one of 30 Lehigh Senators for the 2023-2024 academic year, with responsibility for club affairs. I oversaw more than 300 clubs at Lehigh University, ensuring they operated smoothly throughout the year and held regular meetings with each club's chair.
My first time coding ever was on my freshman year, I struggled, but my determination pushed me to understand coding in Java. I quickly learned that attention to detail and logical problem-solving are key. My first hackathon taught me valuable lessons in teamwork, respecting others' ideas, and listening to different perspectives. I applied to be the undergraduate researcher and got accepted, the research focus on the interpretability of a machine learning technique for bitcoin stock trading strategies, and we was awarded one of 5 most impactful research that summer. I greatly appreciate the opportunity to participate in such research!
After graduating from high school, I was accepted into Lehigh University (ranked #47 in the U.S.) with a Lehigh scholarship. During my high school years, I was an activist, a violinist, a leader, and a co-founder of the Vietnamese SEAGLE Project, which focuses on educating young people aged 15-25 on effective money management. One year later, our team successfully partnered with Atlantic Union Bank to develop a comprehensive website dedicated to financial education, which can be accessed here
